Stellan Stephenson has always had an interest in people. Photography became a natural way for him to meet and interact with strangers. An effective way to get past the courtesy phrases and quickly access something with more depth, to find the essence of those he meets. It all began during a stay in Los Angeles where he allowed the camera to become a way to get to know the city and the people who lived in it. As an assistant to the acclaimed photographer Peter Gehrke he then refined his craft. The ability to capture the personality of the people he photographs has made him a sought-after photographer for portraits, commercial shoots and press photos.
Photography is his way of expressing his thoughts and archiving all things beautiful and fragile that we take for granted.
Behind all the positive energy that characterizes Stellan’s personality there are also darker thoughts that are expressed in his motives. Such as reflections on how our earth, as we know it, changes rapidly. Photography is his way of expressing his thoughts and archiving all things beautiful and fragile that we take for granted. From this he has created “Still Here” which is his first collection to be released at Moutife.
